忙忙碌碌之余，现代人向往着远离都市的生活，哪怕三五好友趁周末结伙辟谷也十分惬意。河水清澈见底，林荫清风徐徐，耳边鸟语花香，满目奇峰林立。但这一切美好，如果没有路，便都空谈。路把我们带进大山，也把大山人拉近了我们。

Life in such a hustle and bustle, people are seeking for inner peace far away from modern city, even a small weekend for Taoist meditating with several friends is good enough. Clear river, gentle breeze, whispers of birds, the fragrant of flowers, and strange peaks in view, all the beautiful will come to an end if there are no roads. Roads lead us into the mountains and make people closer.

河南辉县郭亮村，有一条号称“绝壁长廊”的公路举世闻名，这就是郭亮洞挂壁公路。

There is a road which is known as “gallery with no precipices” in Guoliang village, Hui county in henan province, and this is the well-known Guoliang Suspended Road.

郭亮村位于太行山深处，海拔1700米，坐落在千仞壁立的山崖上。据说，这个悬崖上的村落，只有八十多户人家，三百多口人，这条“绝壁长廊”，就是由郭亮村十三位村民人工开凿的，被称为“世界最险要十条路”之一。

Guoliang Village is located in deep of the Taihang Mountains, with an altitude of 1700 meters high which right suspends on the beetling precipices. It is said that there are only 80 families with more than 300 people, and this road was built by 13 of the these villagers, which is known as one of the ten most dangerous roads in the world.

 

郭亮村没有开路之前，如果要出山，只能走一块块岩石垒砌在悬崖绝壁上的一条之字型的小道，人称“天梯”，上下天梯要“贴三贴”、“靠三靠”，只有青壮年才能出村。天梯最要命的是不能运大或重的东西。山里的猪想往外卖，不能超过100斤。村中有人生病，根本就没法运到外面去看病。上世纪七十年代以前，郭亮村的农民世世代代被圈在山村里，祖祖辈辈几乎过着与世隔绝的生活。漫长的岁月里，“天梯”成了这座村落与外界交往的唯一通道。

Before the birth of this road, one can only goes out from a tiny path, which was called “the ladder of heaven”, where only the strong can manage it. The most deadly situation is people cannot transport any big or heavy things. If sell pork, no more than 100 kilograms, and people got ill can never be sent to hospital outside. Before 1970s, villagers were locked in the small village isolated from the outer world for generations. “The ladder of heaven” had always been the only passage to the outer world.

以前，村里的人从来没有想过修路，那个年代，没有任何的机器，面对那么高的悬崖峭壁，修路是一件想都不敢想的事情，可是，一件事情，让村里的老支书改变了想法。

In the past, it never occurred to villagers to build a road, because there was no machine at that time, and facing such high precipices, building a road seemed crazy. However, one thing changed the Party secretary.

那是一个深冬，通往外界的天梯上全是积雪，一个10岁的小姑娘在去上学的路上，因积雪太多，看不清阶梯，不小心滑到了山谷里。这件事情，让老支书的内心有了一个坚定的目标，要修路，怎么都要与这峭壁斗上一斗，就为了娃儿不会再出事，也为了村里的村民可以致富！

It happened in a late winter that was full of thick snow, a 10-year-old girl who was on the way to school fell down to the valley because of the snow. That accident confirmed the Secretary to build a road no matter how hard it will be, for people’s safety, and for their prosperity!

1972年，郭亮村的村民开始修建这条公路，这壁立千仞的峭壁，又高又陡，就像一块巨大的石头，被人硬生生的用刀劈开，寸草不生，与地面呈九十度角，直上直下。郭亮村的十三位壮士，靠双手，来开凿这座大山，来打通这陡峭的崖壁。没有机器，全靠人力，巨大的石块让村民们进展缓慢，一天打一尺，三天打一米，开凿人员人人负过伤，人人流过血，千米绝壁就是这样用热血和生命一锤一钎凿通……

From 1972, they started building it. The steep precipice was like a huge stone suspending in the sky split by people. The 13 warriors opened the mountain by their hands without any machines. The huge stone slowed the process, one day for an inch, and three days for one meter, people hurt and blood, and that is how the thousand- meter cliff was born......

1977年，郭亮村的村民在绝壁上苦干5年后，终于修成一条高4米、宽6米、长1250米的石洞公路。主要负责开凿的十三位村民被称为“十三壮士”。

After five years’ hard work, there came a cavern road of 4 meters’ high, 6 meters’ wide, and 1250 meters’ long. And the 13 villagers were named as “13 warriors”.

这条挂壁公路，每隔十余米便开一侧窗。从远处望去，这一线侧窗勾勒出隧洞的走向。这条悬崖上的路，一边是悬崖峭壁，一边是万丈深渊，如果站在对面山崖上，就可以全方位地看清郭亮洞，犹如欣赏挂在墙上的一幅画卷。

Within every 10 meters there is a window, seen from far it’s drawing the line ahead leading people out. One side is precipice, and another is formidable abyss. If you stand on the mountain there will be a clear view of Guoliang cavern road, which is like appreciating a picture suspended on the wall.

 

郭亮挂壁公路不仅仅是一个奇迹，还显示出中华民族的那种坚忍不拔的精神。前人栽树后人乘凉，现如今，郭亮挂壁公路的名头已经很响。村里的旅游开发也做起来了，这里的风景雄、壮、险、奇、古，山水秀美，以其特有的美丽吸引了大批的中外游客。很多人家里人开起了家庭旅馆，实现了家家有活干，户户没闲人，人人能赚钱的村落生活。

Guoliang Road is more than a miracle, which is also a representation of the spirit of this nation. One generation plants the trees, another gets the shade. Now it’s been known to a lot of people, and the tourist industry is in full swing. The scenery attracts people both home and abroad with the grandeur of mountains, the serenity of waters, and the sharpness of precipices. Many villagers set the business of family hotels, which makes every one there like a busy bee getting honey with pleasure and fulfillment.
