古代文人惜书、爱书、藏书，此人尤甚之，他是黄丕烈，清著名藏书家，毕生致力于古籍的收藏和整理研究，被称为藏书界中五百年来第一人。说到藏书，在姑苏城内平江路，行至菉葭巷，再迈过一座小石桥，就能看到他的隐居藏书之所了。

Ancient scholars treasure books, love books, and collect books, especially this man, Huang Pilie, a bibliophile in Qing Dynasty, devoted all his life to the collection and study of the ancient books, and he is regarded as the first man within 500 years in the bibliophile community. Go down the Pingjiang Road in Suzhou City to Lujia Lane, and then go across a stone bridge, you can see his place.

至今，这座古宅有过三位主人。嘉庆年间为黄丕烈藏书之所。道光年间，又被名门望族潘祖荫购得，由翰林院编修筹建松麟义庄，以行善事。如今，被一位土生土长的苏州姑娘沈春蕾妥善保管。

Till now there have been three owners. In the period of Jiaqing it belongs to Huang Pilie. In Daoguang, it was took over by Pan Zuyin who was from a rich and powerful family. Today, it is protected by a local girl of Suzhou City.

 

历古至今，久经风霜的老宅几乎被摧毁，好在有后人怀先人之魂，爱传统之美，本着“修旧如旧”的原则，沈春蕾在古宅原有的基础上进行修复性开发，如今，不管是本地人还是旅居客，不管是普通百姓还是文人雅士，都慕名来这里一睹芳容。

The old house has almost been destroyed, luckily there are people treasure that from generations to generations, who tried their best to protect the original features of the house. Today, no matter the local people or the customers, no matter the ordinary or the scholars are all attracted there to see it.

谈起这座宅院修旧过程，沈春蕾至今记忆犹新。古宅属于苏州控保建筑，因此，修葺开发的进程变得异常缓慢，生怕破坏了历史的原貌。除此之外，就连屋檐上的每一块青砖，都要去花时间定制和镶嵌。历时五年，这座古宅终于以一种新的方式焕发光彩。

When it comes to the “restoration as the past”, Shen Chunlei remembers it clearly. The ancient houses belong to Building Control and Protection in Suzhou. Therefore, the process had been slowing down in order to avoid damaging the original features . Besides, every brick of the roof takes long time to decorate. After five years, this ancient house started reinvigorating in another way.

沈春蕾介绍说：“古宅原以长廊为中轴线，东四进，西二进，现今保留着东四进。每一个特色都代表着苏帮菜特点的一厅一桌包厢。”这里，每一个包厢都充满了传统文化色彩，有以江南才子沈舟画作为背景的“西圃草堂”，还有以江南四大才子之首唐伯虎的画作修饰的“松鳞堂”。

Shen Chunlei said: “this house was centralized by the gallery, four areas in the east and two in the west. And now it keeps the four-area style. Each feature represents one-room-one-table style of Suzhou dishes.” Each room here is full of traditional cultural colors like the Sipu Manor which was created by Shen Zhou, a famous Jiangnan scholar, and the Songlintang by Tang Bohu, the top of the four scholors.

这里隔绝了咫尺外的喧闹，谢绝了现代气息的入侵，恪守着一份属于历史的宁静。清晨醒来，伴随着宛转悠扬的昆曲，闲庭信步于院内，周围的亭台楼阁、廊桥、古木、竹林、湖水构成了一副幽远宁静的画面，深刻体会到，荣辱不惊，看庭前花开花落；去留无意，往天上云卷云舒的淡然处世之道。

It’s calm and quiet, where totally different from the noisy world near there. In the morning, free walks in the yard with the soft opera where surrounds green hills and blue waters, ancient buildings and bridges. All the scenery makes the inner world calm and indifferent.

苏州姑娘沈春蕾，修复历史遗迹的同时，还弘扬了文化精髓。在遍布高楼大厦的城市里，像这样有温度、有故事的历史建筑，还有多少？还能屹立多久呢？

Shen Chunlei, the Suzhou girl, who is restoring the historical building as well as spreading the essence of our culture. In the modern society where full of reinforced concretes, how many buildings and stories will be left there?
